How to Build Dashboards in Claude CoWork (Video Tutorial)

Hello and welcome to today’s tutorial about living artifacts in Claude CoWork. In this guide, we’ll walk through building interactive dashboards straight from your workspace.

Here is the full video tutorial if you prefer to watch the process:

Step 1: Planning Your Dashboard

The first step is understanding what data you want to display. In the video, we created a JV launch calendar. It automatically updates every time you open it or click the reload button. This artifact checks emails, builds a list, summary cards, filters, a search bar, and performance metrics.

You can see how it checks connectors and servers, which act as the main data source:

Step 2: Creating the Artifact

To start, click on ‘Artifacts’ and then click ‘Create CoWork Artifact’. You just tell Claude what you want to build. It connects to your MCP (Model Context Protocol) and begins pulling the relevant information.

You can sort data by topic, sender, or apply custom filters for specific launches.

Step 3: Managing Connectors and Permissions

In the interface, you can manage your connectors. This is where you decide if Claude needs to ask for permission to use a tool, is always allowed, or is never allowed.

Step 4: Finalizing the Dashboard

Once it’s ready, just click to create the artifact. If you run into an error or want to change something (like adding a new filter or calendar view), simply tell Claude what the problem is, and it will update the dashboard right in your conversation.

Make sure to try this yourself and build your first dashboard for the things you need daily or weekly!
